Computerized Accounting and Business Specialist

Course Description: This course is designed to prepare the student to perform the accounting and bookkeeping functions commonly found in a small to medium size business. Topics include: double entry accounting, account setup, analyzing and recording transactions, special journals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash disbursements and cash receipts. Students learn through realistic accounting simulations and projects utilizing computer accounting software. Students are trained on both QuickBooks and Peachtree software applications.

  This module provides a comprehensive introduction to the most frequently used features of Excel. Students are taught navigation, formulas and formatting which will make them functional in the use of Excel. Back to top

MSAC01 Microsoft Access  
 

This course introduces the students to a widely used database management program. It gives the student a way to organize, access and share information. The topics include planning and designing a database, viewing and organizing information and integrating with other applications. Back to top

QB01 QuickBooks  
 

This course introduces the student to one of the most widely used bookkeeping software packages. The QuickBooks training curriculum concentrates on the use of software to cover standard bookkeeping principles and methodologies. Back to top

QB02 QuickBooks Advanced  
 

This course will provide the student with more in-depth knowledge of QuickBooks and expand on the use and additional applications of this widely used software program in the financial industry. Topics discussed are QuickBooks set-up and application of principles learned in advanced bookkeeping.Back to top

PT01 Peachtree  
 

This course introduces another widely used software application. The Peachtree training program focuses on covering standard bookkeeping principles and methodologies. The topics include setting up company accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, time and billing. Back to top

CAT101 Computerized Accounting Technology  
 

In this course the student is prepared to perform the bookkeeping and accounting functions commonly found in a small to medium size business. Topics include: double entry accounting, account setup, analyzing and recording transactions, special journals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash disbursements and cash receipts. BK101 Bookkeeping  
  This course expands to bookkeeping topics such as financial reporting and analysis, cash control, purchasing though accounts receivable and inventory control through class demonstrations and practical applications. Students are given the opportunity to apply the skills that they have learned. Back to top

BK201 Bookkeeping Advanced  
  Students will apply what has been learned and have the opportunity to expand their bookkeeping skills through more complicated manual and computerized accounting simulations. Topics discussed are: costing systems, hierarchy in the chart of accounts, job costing, depreciation, final account closing, and salary accounting.Back to top
