Advanced G-Code Programming
Course Summary: This advanced class is designed to give the students extensive hands-on programming time on the CNC Mill and an introduction to CAM software. Building upon the knowledge gained from the basic G-Code programming class, each student will create a tool path, post a part program from the CAM system and download it to the CNC machine to fabricate the part. The student will learn to set the work coordinate system and all necessary tool offsets.
Course Prerequisites: Knowledge of G-Code programming fundamentals. Computer Literacy. Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is helpful.

• Set-up of the CNC Milling Center
• Setting the Work Coordinate Systems
• Setting the tool heights and diameters
• DNC drip feed
• Importing geometry into CAM
• Finding and solving alarm messages
• 2D CAM Fundamentals
• Creating and editing toolpath in CAM
• Running the part program and measuring the results
• Changing tool offsets to meet the finished dimensions of a part
• Editing a part program after the initial run
• Controlling lead in/lead out parameters
• Toolpath verify in CAM
