Allied Health Medical Billing and Coding Specialist with Administration
Course Description: Our Medical Billing training programs prepare the student to meet the requirements for entry- level employment in a medical office or hospital facility. The course emphasizes skills in ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS medical billing and coding, Anatomy and Physiology (A & P) as well as, the protection of patient's privacy of health information HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and CMS-1500 insurance claims form submission, electronic billing using Medisoft, and medical office procedures. Uniform Billing & Hospital Office Procedures is taught in the advanced
medical billing and coding course.

This course will introduce students to understand and useICD-9-CM Coding(International Classification of Diseases, 9 th version, Clinical Modification)utilized by the health care industry to report the medical necessity of services rendered. Students become skilled in the methodology employed for code selection of diagnosis, signs and symptoms for reporting purposes. CPT Coding (Current Procedural Terminology) introduces students to the principles and methodology employed for code selection of surgical procedures. Student will learn HCPCS, a national coding system that classifies billing of durable medical equipment and supplies. Back to top

This course is designed to introduce students to the basics of medical insurance, including insurance terminology, insurance products, contracts and general insurance procedures. An overview of the legalities and ethical behavior associated with a medical facility will be covered. Included in this module, are the legal terms associated with the medical environment and ethical issues covered under the AMA (American Medical Association). The student will learn how to fill out and submit CMS-1500 - the physicians insurance claim form as well as to perform electronic submissions of bills using Medisoft.Back to top

Students will be prepared for every aspect of administrative duties and prepared to function as a Front Desk Registrar, coordinate office flow and assist with clerical tasks. This class covers introduction to MS Word, MS Excel, answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, office bookkeeping, etc. Students will learn to use Medisoft, a medical office database software used to input patient information, provider information, payments and claims.
